JOHN DAVITT
is a newcomer,
having recently married an El Paso lady, and are now living here. He appears
to be a fine young man.
WILLIAM
BATEMAN
was a much
respected resident of Kappa. For a time he was justice of the peace. He
died some years ago, and his body peacefully rests in the Kappa cemetery.
His widow lives at El Paso.
EDWARD
HOGAN
has lived
at Kappa for nearly 25 years. Mrs. Pierce, the mother of his first wife,
has also resided here the same length of time. Mrs. Berg, the mother of
his present wife, is a native of Switzerland, and has lived in Kappa for
nearly 20 years.
EDMUND
WELCH
came to Kappa
in the spring of 1859. He had previously worked for N. N. Jones,
south of here, and before that had worked in Massachusetts. He was section
foreman at Kappa for nearly 20 years and with his wife still resides here,
where they have many friends.
MRS.
NANCY HARPER
and Mrs. A.
A. Harper are both old and respected residents of Kappa and vicinity and
have many friends.
MRS.
ISABELL DIXON
has lived
in this vicinity for 40 years. She is highly respected by her many friends.
J. AND
WILLIAM GLIMPSE
are fat and
jolly citizens of Kappa. They were both soldier boys, and each receives
a small pension. Kappa would be lost without these goodlooking and honest
brothers.
OWEN
DORAN
has lived
at and near Kappa for thirty years. He puts in tile and makes ditches and
is a boss hand at it.
JAMES
OLCOTT
and his estimable
wife came to Kappa from New York nearly 20 years ago. Mr. Olcott owned
an interest in the Kappa mill for a long time but has now retired from
active business.
