MRS. HANNON
wife of Patrick
Hannon, moved to this place from Lincoln. Her first husband was Patrick
Dwyre, who was killed by lightning in 1877. Her son, Robert, is a well-known
and popular conductor on the southern division of the I.C. railroad. Mrs.
Hannon is highly esteemed by her many Kappa friends.
JAMES BIGGER
and his large
and interesting family are pleasant people and much respected by their
friends.
JOHN
C. HALL
is a young
man but an old resident. He is industrious, persevering and worthy. He,
with his wife and baby boy, are well-liked by their friends. John is a
fine musician and the boy is also musical, especially at about midnight.
WILSON
PEARSON,
with his son
Nelson, and his son-in-law, Ed Cable, are respected and prosperous citizens
of Kappa.
DR.
E. D. WITT,
the Kappa
miller, is an educated and very intelligent gentleman. Owing to his failing
eyesight he was obliged to give up the practice of medicine. He is highly
respected by all.
RICHARD
GRANT
and family
are respected citizens of Kappa.
MRS.
ANN MONTGOMERY
is the widow
of the late James Montgomery, who was a soldier in the 8th Mo. Vol. Mrs.
Montgomery is a quiet and pleasant lady and much respected.
THOMAS
M'GRATH
is the section
foreman. He lives with his mother and sister at this place. At present
he is in the hospital at Bloomington, as it is thought he has consumption.
It is hoped he will soon recover.
MRS.
BOWMAN
is a very
estimable lady residing here. She is a native of North Carolina. Her daughter,
Miss Bowman, is the Kappa dressmaker and thoroughly understands her work
in all its departments.
