Carmel Corn

 

Ingredients:

2 cups brown sugar

½ cups corn syrup

2 sticks margarine

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon baking soda

2 poppers of pop corn

peanuts (optional)

 

Directions:

Preheat oven to 250 degrees.

            On stove top in a heavy duty saucepan, melt margarine, corn syrup, and brown sugar.  Allow mixture to boil for 5 minutes while stirring.  Add vanilla, salt and baking soda.

            Put popped popcorn in a 5-6 quart greased roasting pan or two greased 13x9 baking pans.  Add peanuts.

            Pour sugar mixture over popcorn and mix well.  Bake for 40 minutes, stirring occasionally.

            Spread on waxed paper to cool.
