A. F. S. students who have spent some time in our community are as follows:
1962 – Jose Ricardo Cobo Soler of Valencia, Spain, who stayed with Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Crusius.
1963 – Sarathatheny Thambiah of Klang, Salengo, Malaysia, who stayed with the Paul Shuman family.
1964 – Carlos Salas Gonzales, of Rio Segundo, Alajuela, Costa Rica, who stayed with the Lowell Crusius family.
1965 – Edith Larson of Ringsted, Denmark, who stayed with the Robert Mayne, Jr. family.
1966 – Kanungnit Sapoo of Tapanshin, Thailand, who stayed with the Martin Duffy family.
1967 – Julio Ramos de Oliveira of Cataguases Minos, Gerais, Brazil, who stayed with the Jon Jones family.
1968 – Carolyn Ann Cousins, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, who stayed with the Richard Berlin family.
In 1969 and 1970 El Paso had no A. F. S. students.
1971 – Roger Saulce of La Buisse, France, who stayed with the Wayne E. Steffen family.
1972 – Gerlinde Wagner of Gundelfingen, Baden-Werttemberg, Germany, who stayed with the Dallas Schuler family and Sebastiao Pereira Nunes, of Lavina, Estado de Sao Paulo, Brazil, who stayed with the George E. Drake family.
1973 – Giuseppe Conzadori of Paratico, Italy, who stayed with the William F. Smith family.
1974 – There will be 3 A. F. S students in El Paso, consisting of Wilnorie Pascua Rasay from the Philippines who is staying with the Raymond Sampen family, Doris Mireya Acuna Fabian from Guatemala who is staying with the Leon Seagraves family, and Elsa Scheitl from Niederosterreich, Austria, who is staying with the George Drake family.
Mary Benedict, daughter of the Harold Benedicts, was the first El Paso student to participate in the Americans Abroad program. She spent the summer of 1972 in Campinas, Sao Paulo, Brazil. Because of the language barrier, she says she felt more of a guest than a student during her time in school.
In January 1973, Carol Aylward, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Aylward, went to Marapara, New Zealand. She arrived home January 17, 1974, having spent a term in a New Zealand school. She found class work more difficult than at home. She is completing her senior year and will graduate with her class in 1974.
After returning to Spain, Jose Ricardo Cabo Soler graduated from medical college, with M. D. and Ph. D. degrees, interned at the University of Spain. In 1971, he interned at Menorah Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri, and in 1972, studied at Washington University and Barnes Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri. During the 1971-72 Christmas holidays, he returned to El Paso to visit Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth
