Gen. George B. McClellan, General in Chief of the Union Army from November 1, 1861 to March 11, 1862. He had been an El Paso visitor several times when with the I. C. R. R. Co.
Lincoln was back in El Paso in July of 1859, but we have no record of any second visit at the Count's place. We do know that his family was with him, and so were many state and Illinois Central officials who were inspecting all of the Illinois Central on a leisurely nine day trip.11 Lincoln had been again engaged as a Central attorney although in 1856 he had sued them for a $5,000 fee.
