This picture shows the Presbyterian church that was built in 1864 for a cost of $3,200. It was the first church to be organized in El Paso but was not the first to erect a house of worship. It was torn down and in 1903 a brick and stone building was erected at the same location, 135 E. Second Street. The congregation later took the name of United Church of Christ. On December 21, 1986, the brick and stone building burned, and a one-story brick building was built at the same location.
