Our high schools are up to the standard and many of their graduates are filling places of trust and prominence, not only in our city but elsewhere. The courses of study are thorough and the methods of teaching are up to date and efficient.
Prior to the erection of the new East side school a great effort was made to unite the two districts, but no agreement was made and district four went ahead with the work. It was a thing greatly to be desired and many of our citizens hope to see them united at no far distant day on a fair business basis and then we predict for our schools still greater achievements.
The board of directors in district four is David Evans, F. B. Stitt and R. J. Evans; for district five, Dr. J. A. Smith, Mrs. S. H. Worthington and Thos. Patterson.
